Carlos Panlilio

Obituary of Carlos Panlilio

Carlos Panlilio, 93, passed away on April 5, 2024. One of ten children, Carlos was born on September 13, 1930, in Angeles, Pampanga Philippines, to Brigido and Aniceta Panlilio. He graduated from the University of the East and married the love of his life, Rosa, in 1958. They had six children. As an accountant for the U.S. Navy at Subic Bay, the family received special immigration status and they emigrated to the U.S. in 1976. The family first resided in Seaside then moved to San Jose, where Carlos eventually retired from the American Indian Center in 1992. He and Rosa moved to Marina upon their retirement.

His interests ranged from the creative (music, movies, drawing) to the outdoors (fishing, tennis, the ocean), as well as fun activities (bowling, bus trips to casinos and traveling). He enjoyed watching CNN and old westerns, playing Perry Como records on Christmas morning, trying his luck at baccarat, and eating delicious chicharron and roasted duck. He was always ready to travel to Las Vegas!

Carlos loved spending time with his family. He was very proud of his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Rosa Panlilio and his children & their spouses: Melba Panlilio; Maida & Albert Miranda; Michael & Theresa Panlilio; Mirasol Panlilio; Marissa & Tim Durazzo; and Minerva & Michael Tompkins. He is also survived by his grandchildren and great grandchildren: Joshua & Alexis Miranda with their children, Oliver and Malena; Mikhaela Panlilio; Noah Panlilio; Gabriel Panlilio; Isabella Panlilio; and Catalina Tompkins. He also leaves behind a sister in the Philippines, Milagring, as well as nephews, nieces and friends who will miss him dearly.

He was the best husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and uncle anyone can ask for – he leaves behind a great legacy of kindness and compassion that will be passed on for generations to come. Carlos was loved by everyone that knew him. We know he will be watching over us, and he will be forever in our hearts.
